Board of Directors

The SSC Board of Directors is comprised of individuals elected by member organizations representing two active, voting types of member organizations:

· Public School Districts These Board members are active on a local school board.

· Local Government These Board members are usually an official employed by a member government organization (city, county, other agencies). Local Government members can nominate any qualified citizen to represent them on the Board who is willing to serve and be actively involved in SSC Board functions.

About Our Board Members
 
TheressaTheressa Arrick-Kruger - Tess represents Houston County, and serves as its Human Resources Director. Tess joined SSCs Board in January, 2011. She has three grown children and one grandchild. Tess and her husband, Howard, have lived in Winona for the past 24 years.
Don Andring Don Andring - A member of the Dover-Eyota School Board for the past 11 years, Don also runs his dairy farm and electrical contracting business. He and his wife of 34 years are the parents of eight children, and grandparents of nine. Don enjoys working on the farm and a bit of fishing and hunting.
MichaelMichael Christenson - Mike serves on the Red Wing School Board and joined the SSC Board of Directors in January, 2011. Mike and his wife are the parents of two high-school age children. He enjoys making music, golfing and cross country skiing.
CarolCarol Cravath - Carol has been on the Plainview-Elgin-Millville School Board for the past four years. Retired from teaching, Carol and her husband have twin sons who live in the Rochester area. Carol enjoys reading, gardening, and traveling, especially to Hawaii.
BrianBrian Grudem - Brian serves on the Zumbrota-Mazeppa School Board and is also a Plans Examiner for the City of Rochester Building Safety Department. Brian and his wife Judy are the parents of four young children. In his free time he enjoys coaching his sons sports teams, and attending Twins, Vikings and Gopher games.
PeggyPeggy Merkel - Peggy was elected to the Kingsland Public School Board in January of 2009. She also works as an administrative assistant and stays involved in the Spring Valley community by participating in Kingsland School Parents and the Tri-County Trailblazers. Peggy and her husband Jake have two sons, Cody and Gavin. In her free she enjoys snowmobiling and scrapbooking.
AlAl Nelson - Al was appointed to the Wabasha-Kellogg School Board in October 2003. He is also a math and science teacher at River Valley Academy, which is an alternative High School located in Kellogg. Al has served as a Boy Scout leader, Wabasha Park Board member as well as a member of his church council. He and his wife Brenda have two grown sons, Adam and Kevin.
SueSusan Phillips - Sue has been Freeborn Countys Central Services Supervisor for the past 22 years. She has two step-children, and she and her husband are the grandparents of five boys. Sue enjoys fishing in Canada and attending her grandsons sporting events.
StephanStephen Rosenthal - Stephen has been on the Zumbrota-Mazeppa School Board for the past 4 years, serving on three joint power committees. He works as a sales representative at the Apache Mall Sleep Number Store. Stephen and his wife Marlee have three children and live on a hobby farm that includes horses, sheep, and white German shepherds.

marcia Marcia Ward - Marcia has been a Winona County Commissioner for the past six years. She is a retired business owner, and active sheep farmer. Married with four children, Marcia can be found participating in a variety of outdoor activities including biking, hiking, camping and gardening.
